Two men have been arrested after separate stabbings in Saint John early Sunday.

Police say they arrested a teen after a man in his twenties was stabbed near Cedar Street, a residential area in the city’s north end.

Residents told CTV News they heard the sound of breaking glass around 1 a.m. Sunday before police swarmed the area.

There are reports a fight broke out between two men outside an apartment building. One of the men received multiple stab wounds in the incident and was taken to hospital.

Police say a 19-year-old boy was arrested a short time later, near the crime scene.

Shortly after, police responded to another stabbing in uptown Saint John after a man in his twenties was stabbed on King Street West.

He was taken to hospital and released.

Police say they arrested a 22-year-old man on the Market Square boardwalk shortly after the stabbing.

Police say the two stabbings are not related but the victim and suspect in the Cedar Street stabbing knew each other.
