Mike was born and raised in Halifax and began his career in broadcasting as a studio camera operator at CTV Atlantic (known as ATV at the time) in 1990.

In 1997, Mike made the move to Vancouver for the launch of a new station called VTV, which later became CTV Vancouver. There, he performed roles like floor directing, Steadicam, studio camera, and ENG camera for CTV News and the Vicki Gabereau Show.

While working in Vancouver, Mike covered some of the country’s most notable events, including the 2010 Olympics, royal visits, and federal elections. Mike has freelanced with Dome Productions and Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment, working as a jib and hand-held camera operator for live sporting events like NHL hockey and curling.

In 2014, Mike returned to his Maritime roots, joining CTV Atlantic as a technical producer, studio camera operator, editor, and ENG camera operator.

Mike is a generalist, but he especially enjoys writing feature and sports stories.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his two boys, playing hockey, and patiently waiting for the Toronto Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup.
