A Dartmouth man accused of killing a sex-trade worker last July is due back in court to face charges related to an attack on a second sex-trade worker.

The 29-year-old woman says Laffin bound her hands and feet and put duct tape over her mouth while he sexually assaulted her in August 2010. She says she remembers waking up in the trunk of a moving car

She managed to get out of the trunk and ran half naked to get help from a nearby home on Old Sambro Road in Halifax.

Steven Laffin is charged with abduction, forcible confinement, aggravated sexual assault and uttering death threats in connection to the case.

His preliminary hearing starts Tuesday in provincial court.

Laffin is also charged with second-degree murder in connection to the disappearance of 29-year-old Nadine Taylor.

Police charged him in October 2010, about three months after Taylor was reported missing in Halifax. Her body has never been found.

The hearing for that case is scheduled to begin on October 31.
