The New Brunswick RCMP has expanded their search for a missing 53-year-old Oak Haven woman.

Police say no one has seen or heard from Dorothy Tucker since before 10 p.m. Sunday. She was reported missing Monday.

Investigators say evidence found at her McGeachy Lane home suggests foul play may have been involved in her disappearance, but they won’t say what that evidence is.

“When we say that, it means that we believe that someone may be involved in her disappearance, so there’s a criminal element to this investigation,” says RCMP Cpl. Chantal Farrah.

More than two dozen officers with the RCMP major crime unit and St. Stephen RCMP, as well as a K9 unit, searched Tucker’s home and scoured the dense woodland around it Thursday.

An RCMP helicopter also conducted an aerial search in the area.

People who live in the area say they were taken aback by the expanded police presence.

“Now all of a sudden this is going on and it’s a shock. It’s terrible. We don’t know what to think sometimes,” says neighbour Ray Weeks.

“We just talked to her when we went down the laneway, nice person, never had a beef with her. She’s always a nice lady and it’s a shame.”

Investigators have already spoken to Tucker’s friends, family and neighbours as they search for clues in her disappearance. Now they are appealing to the public for help.

“If you saw anything suspicious around her home or in the area that could remotely be linked, please call us with that information,” says Farrah.

Tucker is roughly five-foot-five and has a medium build. She has shoulder-length auburn hair, blue eyes and wears glasses. She may have been wearing a navy sweater, dark-coloured jeans with rips and tan-coloured boots.

Anyone with information on her disappearance is asked to contact St. Stephen RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or N.B. Crime Stoppers at www.crimenb.ca or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
