Halifax Regional Police say two men have been arrested in the 2011 homicide of a young Dartmouth woman.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 117 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth shortly after 11 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2011.

Officers found a 19-year-old woman inside the front doors of the apartment building. She was unresponsive and suffering from a single stab wound to the chest. Keya Knita Simon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Simon’s 32-year-old sister had also been stabbed. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released from hospital.

Police believe a fight broke out after a group of people known to the victims arrived at a party inside the apartment building.

They say the altercation spilled out onto the front lawn and that both Simon and her sister were stabbed.

Investigators arrested two suspects in connection with Simon’s homicide and her sister’s stabbing on Wednesday.

A 25-year-old Dartmouth man was arrested without incident in Dartmouth and a 25-year-old man who is originally from Dartmouth was arrested in New Brunswick.

Police say they remain in custody and are being interviewed. There is no word on charges at this time.
