Tickets will soon go on sale for the Canadian Olympic women's soccer team's game against China and representatives were in Moncton today to promote the international match.

While one game is nice, there is hope a strong response from fans will bring more world cup games to the Hub City.

The exhibition match between Canada and China is set for May 30 and organizers are hoping for a sellout crowd.

Temporary seating will not be constructed for the game but organizers hope that filling Moncton Stadium with 10,000 cheering fans will help to secure future international matches, with an eye on the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.

"What we wanted to see in the community is success for a match like this, not only technical success with training fields and a major stadium, but also from a sellout point of view," says Peter Montopoli, general secretary of the Canadian Soccer Association.

The game on May 30 will be Team Canada's last game on home soil, before the players head to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.

"You need to play at home at least once to hear the crowd, and to know that when you're in another country playing in a big tournament, it's these people you're representing on the field," says Team Canada defender Rhian Wilkinson.

Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc credits the construction of Moncton Stadium as the driving force behind landing major international events.

"We've been able to attract major world class events right here to our little city, which prior to its construction, would have been unthinkable," says LeBlanc.

Tickets for the game between Canada and China go on sale Thursday and the host cities for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup will be announced in the coming months.
