MONCTON, N.B. - A 63-year-old New Brunswick man has been charged with sexually assaulting two children under the age of 12.

Thomas Maher of Moncton was arrested Thursday, a day after police received a complaint from the family of one of the alleged victims.

Maher was also charged with two counts of sexual interference.

Police say the alleged offences occurred over the past six months.

A bail hearing is scheduled for Monday in Moncton provincial court.

Investigators say Maher is not related to either victim.
