A 32-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., is facing drugs and weapons charges after police say he was found using a stolen dirt bike.

On Wednesday, police learned a dirt bike that was previously reported stolen may have been located in the Cumberland area of Nova Scotia. Officers started conducting patrols to find the missing item.

The next day, police located the dirt bike on Highway 204 in Stanley, N.S.

When the driver stopped, police say officers were able to prevent him from continuing on.

The driver, Jesse Parlee, was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime.

Parlee was searched and police say he was in possession of:

  • multiple stolen drivers licences and cheques
  • a variety of drugs believed to be ready for sale
  • a conducted energy weapon, which is a prohibited weapon and was possessed contrary to probation conditions

Police say Parlee was also wanted on an arrest warrant in New Brunswick.

“The information that we received helped officers do targeted, proactive patrols, and lead to locating more than just the missing dirt bike,” says Sgt. Jarret MacDonald, with the Cumberland County District RCMP, in a news release. “We appreciate receiving tips that support our investigations because what may seem like a small detail can lead to an outcome that is more significant than anticipated, like in this investigation.”

Parlee has been charged with:

  • resisting arrest
  • four counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • four counts of possession of weapon contrary to order
  • six counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking

He was held in custody and was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday.
