NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. -- The Crown corporation that operates the ferries linking Nova Scotia with Newfoundland says there will be further disruption to scheduled sailings this week.

Marine Atlantic says it is taking longer than expected to repair a broken generator aboard the MV Highlanders, which means there will be more delays and cancellations for an indefinite period.

As a result, the next roundtrip crossing for the ferry than links North Sydney, N.S., with Argentia, N.L. -- slated for departure Wednesday -- has been cancelled.

That ferry will be used to clear the backlog of passengers on the North Sydney to Port aux Basque, N.L, run.

Any customer who has to wait more than seven hours for a re-booked trip will receive travel vouchers of $200 per adult and $100 per child between the ages of 5 and 12.

Those who booked a ticket to sail to Argentia this Wednesday have the option of either being re-booked to the next scheduled sailing on Friday and receiving travel vouchers, or receive a full refund along with free passage through Port aux Basques.
