N.B. town seeks to limit the number of cats, dogs in homes
The Town of Shediac, N.B., is proposing a bylaw change that would limit the number of cats and dogs in homes in former local service districts (LSDs).
According to a draft proposal to Bylaw 24-18, the new territories of Pointe-du-Chene, Scoudouc Road, Scoudouc and Shediac Cape would be limited to no more than two cats or two dogs in a household without a valid permit.
The bylaw would also require dog owners to register their pets on or before Jan. 31 every year. According to a Facebook post from the Town of Shediac, the annual fee for a dog tag would be $10 and the replacement fee would be $2.
A third reading to pass the bylaw was scheduled to be held at the Shediac Town Hall on Dec. 16, but it has been rescheduled to the new year.
