CAPE TORMENTINE, N.B. - About 100 motorists stranded on the New Brunswick side of the Confederation Bridge are hoping to continue their travels today.

High winds and white-out conditions forced them to stay put when the bridge closed at about 2 p.m. yesterday.

The Canadian Red Cross set up an emergency shelter with cots, blankets and other supplies at a local recreation centre.

Authorities told travellers parked along the highway that they could relocate to the shelter.

The Confederation Bridge reopened this morning.
