A young couple from Prince Edward Island will soon be reunited with their wedding album after it was found on a busy Halifax bridge.

Emma Pace of the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission says nails and coins are some of the items commonly found on the Macdonald Bridge, but this is the first time a wedding album was picked up.

“I was walking into the building and a commissionaire came up and approached me and said ‘Emma, you’ll have to come take a look at this,’” says Pace.

Someone reported a piece of debris on the deck of the Macdonald Bridge around noon. When bridge staff opened the box, they were surprised to find a soggy wedding album inside.

They immediately posted a picture of the happy couple on social media sites, kicking off a search for the mystery newlyweds.

“I asked for people to re-tweet it, to share it so that hopefully someone who knows the owner, or maybe the owner themselves, might see the picture,” says Pace.

“They look like a pretty loving couple and it looked pretty recent, so we thought we might as well try and…get the album back to the right person.”

It turns out the couple’s wedding photographer, Jenn Murphy, was on her way to deliver the album to the bride and groom on Prince Edward Island when the incident occurred.

Murphy admits she left the box on the top of her car and accidentally drove off with it there.

A friend of the couple eventually spotted the picture on Facebook and identified them, but CTV broke the news to the groom, who was shocked over the incident but expressed confidence in Murphy’s work.

“It’s not a big deal to us, as long as get it at some point,” says Marcel MacDonald. “She was a fantastic photographer. We’re happy with her services and hopefully we’ll see the album soon.”

Marcel and Ashley MacDonald aren’t too concerned about how their wedding pictures ended up on the Macdonald Bridge, but they agree it will make a great story to tell on their first anniversary in August.
