Days after her body was found in a wooded area, the community of Sussex, N.B. is rallying to support the family of 20-year-old Jessica Ann Miller.

No one has been charged with causing the death of the young woman from nearby Apohaqui, but police have not ruled out more arrests and more charges in what they’re describing as an active investigation.

In Sussex, residents are expressing sadness as their thoughts turn to how best to help the family.

"It's the tragic nature of it. The family is known and they're well liked,” said local resident Laurie Messervey.

“It wasn't like mother and daughter. It was like mother and another sister. They're a great family.”

At the local Sobeys grocery store, where Miller’s mother works, staff members are accepting donations to help the family.

“This is a terrible, terrible tragedy, so let’s try to make a little good out of it. That's my thought,” said store manager Phil Sherwood.

"Everybody wanted to help — myself, our staff — and we made it easy for everyone to help because, you know, there's a lot going on with the Miller family right now,” Sherwood said.

Miller’s body was discovered Monday near Prince of Wales, N.B. near a gravel road off of Highway 1, after she had been missing for three days.

Police have completed their investigation at the scene but are not commenting on how Miller died.

Twenty-year-old Jesse Edwards Reynolds appeared in court on Tuesday to face a charge of causing an indignity to a human body, but is currently not charged with causing Miller’s death.

A funeral service for Miller is scheduled for Friday.
