A New Brunswick man is facing charges after money was stolen from a motel in Lower Woodstock.

Police responded to a report that a man was trying to steal money at the motel just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

They arrested the man shortly after the incident with the assistance of bystanders.

Jeffrey Tyrell McLean appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court Wednesday to face charges of robbery and assault in connection with the incident.

The 28-year-old Woodstock man was remanded into custody.

He is due back in court later today for a bail hearing.
