MIRAMICHI, N.B. -- Police in eastern New Brunswick have charged a 56-year-old man with several sexual offences related to alleged incidents that occurred between 1977 and 1985.
The RCMP say Wilbert Dedam of the Esgenoopetitj First Nation faces a number of charges including one count of rape, one count of having sexual intercourse with a female under 14 years old, one count of having sexual intercourse with a female between the age of 14 and 16 years old, and two counts of sexual assault.
Police say the charges stem from allegations from three complainants.
Dedam is being held in custody until a bail hearing in Miramichi provincial court on May 12.
The Mounties say they have not ruled out that there may be other potential victims.
