A New Brunswick man is facing a number of charges in connection with two sexual assaults in Moncton.

RCMP say 31-year-old Akili Olivier Koro of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent appeared in Moncton provincial court Monday to face charges of aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping, and assault causing bodily harm.

The charges were laid in connection with an incident on Oct. 31.

Koro is also facing charges of forcible confinement, sexual assault with a weapon, assault, and mischief in connection with an incident on Sept. 20.

Police say the incidents involved two different victims. In both cases, police say the victims were walking along St. George Street between midnight and 3 a.m. when they were approached by a man and got into his car.

Police say the victims were then driven to a second location, where the assaults allegedly took place.

Investigators believe there may have been other similar incidents in the past few months, which have not been reported to police.

They are urging any other victims to come forward.

"We have information that leads us to believe there may be more victims out there, and if those crimes are not reported, there's no way for us to investigate them," says RCMP Const. Damien Theriault.

"It's extremely imporant that anyone who was a victim of a similar incident should report it to police."

Koro was due in court Wednesday afternoon for a bail hearing. However, his lawyer asked to delay the bail hearing to allow him more time to review the case.

Koro remains in custody and is due back in court Friday.
