A New Brunswick man has died after his vehicle collided head-on with a transport truck in Bathurst.
RCMP responded to the crash just south of Highway 8, where it intersects with Highway 11, around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the victim was travelling southbound on Highway 11 when he swerved into the oncoming lane and into the path of the transport truck.
The 44-year-old female driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was killed. His name has not been released but police say he was a 44-year-old Paquetville man.
Hazardous materials teams from Sainte-Anne, Bathurst and Environment Canada also attended the scene to control a fuel spill from the transport truck, which had turned on its side.
The Department of Transportation is still on scene. Route 8 between Allardville and Bathurst remains closed.
