RCMP say a body found inside an abandoned truck in Smiths Creek, N.B. is that of a man accused of trying to kill his wife.
Police say a man was working in the woods near Carsonsville Road Tuesday afternoon when he spotted the truck with a body inside.
RCMP secured the scene until the body was removed Tuesday evening and an autopsy was completed today in Saint John.
Police confirm the body is that of 49-year-old Robin White of Plumweseep.
“According to the autopsy report, he’d been there for awhile,” says Sussex RCMP Cpl. George Parisella. “They couldn’t determine how long but he’d been there for awhile.”
Police have not released a cause of death, but say foul play is not suspected.
“The death is undetermined at this time until a toxicology report is done,” says Parisella.
Police say White was wanted in connection with attempted murder of his wife, who was stabbed in February.
Officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who had been stabbed during an altercation in a Plumweseep home the morning of Feb. 27.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Saint John Regional Hospital. She has since been treated and released.
Police charged White with attempted murder in the case, but were unable to locate him. A warrant was issued for his arrest on March 4.
Police say the charge will be withdrawn in court tomorrow.
