The RCMP are investigating after an overpass in Canaan Forks, N.B. was badly damaged by heavy equipment.

Police received a report shortly after 8:15 a.m. on May 10 that an overpass on Cherryvale Road, near Highway 2, had sustained significant damage. 

Police say the area is used mostly by logging trucks and excavation equipment. They believe a piece of heavy equipment may have collided with the overpass as it was driving underneath.

The damage is estimated to be roughly $300,000.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the RCMP.
