ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- A Newfoundland and Labrador ferry company is removing a vessel from service after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.

Marine Atlantic says that as a consequence, ferry service will be suspended today on one of its routes to Nova Scotia.

The company says it was notified yesterday that a crew member of the MV Blue Puttees tested positive.

Marine Atlantic says all crew members on the vessel will be tested and isolated on the ship until they receive their results.

It adds that the MV Blue Puttees will undergo a deep cleaning.

Marine Atlantic says the MV Highlanders will continue to run and the MV Atlantic Vision is ready to provide ferry service if needed.
