A Nova Scotia man may face a hefty fine after police caught him speeding at more than twice the legal limit in Kings County.

Police say they spotted a vehicle travelling at 143 kilometres per hour in a 60 km/h zone Tuesday on Cambridge Mountain Road.

The driver, a 28-year-old Kentville man, has been charged with stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act.

If convicted, he faces a fine of $2412.41 and an automatic six points will be assigned to his driver's record.

The man’s licence has been suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded.

Stunting can be defined as travelling more than 50 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.

Police say they have charged seven other drivers for travelling in the same 60 km/h zone at speeds ranging from 90 kilometres per hour to 120 kilometres per hour.
