An Antigonish man is facing charges in connection with a fatal car crash in Tracadie, Nova Scotia.

Police say 30-year-old William Fogarty has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

The charges stem from a fatal collision involving two cars on Highway 4 shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Police haven't released many details about the crash but they say the driver of one vehicle, 16-year-old Kory Mattie of Havre Boucher, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the same vehicle, 17-year-old Nicholas Landry of Tracadie, was taken to St. Martha's Hospital in Antigonish where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Fogarty, the sole occupant of the second vehicle, was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

He is in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Antigonish provincial court on Monday at 9 a.m.

Police say they are still investigating the crash.
