AMHERST, N.S. - Nova Scotia RCMP have charged a 27-year-old man after an investigation into a drug overdose death.

Police say Neil Calder of Amherst, N.S., faces charges of manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and trafficking in methadone in connection with the death of 20-year-old Kody Cook.

Cook was found dead in his Amherst home on June 24, 2014.

His body was found several hours after he returned from working at a fish plant in Grand Barachois, N.B.

The Mounties say charges were laid following a review of the evidence by the Public Prosecution Service in New Brunswick.

Calder is scheduled to appear in a Moncton, N.B., court on Wednesday.
