A Nova Scotia man is facing additional charges in connection with a house fire that claimed the lives of three people.

Police responded to the home on Old Guysborough Road in Wyses Corner, N.S. on Jan. 7. They found three bodies inside the home.

Codey Reginald Hennigar was taken into custody after someone rammed two police vehicles with a car in the Milford area, about a half-hour drive from the scene of the blaze.

The 30-year-old Wyses Corner man was initially charged with two counts of second-degree murder but police say they have determined the third person is also a homicide victim.

She has been identified as 74-year-old Ida Raye Ward of Old Guysborough Road.

The other victims have been identified as 81-year-old Clifford William Ward and 54-year-old Mildred Ann Ward, both from Wyses Corner.

Hennigar now faces three counts of second-degree murder as well as charges of assault with a weapon and flight from police.

He has been in custody since his arrest on Jan. 9 and is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Jan. 30.

The incident remains under investigation.
