A six-year-old Halifax homicide is the latest case to be added to Nova Scotia’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.
Police say anyone who shares information leading to an arrest and conviction in the death of Glenn Bourgeois could receive up to $150,000.
Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Maynard and Woodill streets around 4 p.m. on July 21, 2007.
When they arrived on the scene they found Bourgeois suffering from several gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.
Police say two black men – one of them armed with a gun – were seen fleeing the area after the shooting.
"We believe that people in our community have information about Mr. Bourgeois' death that would assist in progressing the police investigation and hope that the incentive offered through the rewards program will encourage them to speak up," said Halifax Regional Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 1-888-710-9090. Police note that callers must provide their name and contact information and may be called to testify in court.
The program was launched in October 2006 as an additional tool to help police gather information on unsolved crimes. There are now 70 cases in the program.
