PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. -- RCMP say they are looking for a suspect after an alleged sexual assault of a child in Port Hawkesbury, N.S.

Police say a man approached a nine-year-old boy in a public washroom of a business around 5:15 p.m. on Friday.

They allege the man forced the child into a bathroom stall, locked the door and attempted to pull the boy's pants down.

Police say the boy escaped and employees of the business tried to stop the man from leaving, but he fled.

Investigators are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the man, who is described as white, five-foot-eight, in his 40s or 50s and has dark hair.
