The Nova Scotia RCMP is warning the public, especially residents of the Barrington, N.S. area, about the release of a high-risk offender.

Police say 42-year-old Jamie Alan Goreham is being released from the Calgary Correction Centre on Saturday after completing a sentence for sexual assaults and other offences.

Police say Goreham has a record of criminal convictions dating back to 1991 and that his victims have included girls under the age of 14.

Goreham has been assessed as being a high risk to re-offend. He will be on probation for two years and will be required to abide by strict conditions.

Those conditions include restrictions on any activity involving contact with children under the age of 16 and abstaining from consuming and possessing alcohol.

Police say they are alerting the public so they can take suitable precautionary measures, but are warning that any form of vigilantism will not be tolerated.
