SHELBURNE, N.S. -- The Nova Scotia Nature Trust says it has protected a 130-hectare coastal wilderness in Nova Scotia's Shelburne County.
The ecologically rich site is known as Hemeon's Head.
The group says the area includes an extensive coastal ecosystem that is considered an internationally significant habitat for birds.
The Nature Trust says only five per cent of the province's coastline is protected.
The newly protected land includes the 69-hectare Black Point Beach property once owned by Acadia University, and the adjacent 61-hectare Matthews Lake property.
