Police in Nova Scotia are asking for the public’s help as they continue to investigate the shooting death of a 36-year-old man last spring.

Officers received a report that a man was shot near the 1100 block of Downey Road in North Preston, N.S., just before midnight on May 8.

Tyrell Beals of Westphal was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police began investigating his death as a homicide and said at the time there was no information to suggest it was a random act.

Police say Beals’ homicide remains unsolved and they need information from the public to advance their investigation.

“If you were in the area of Downey Rd. on May 8, or have any details about the events leading up to or after the shooting, please reach out to us; your voice could help bring closure to his grieving family,” said Cpl. Ryan McCarron of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division in a Wednesday news release.

Police are asking anyone with information about Beals’ homicide to call them at 902-490-5020.
