One man is dead and another in hospital after a shooting incident in the north end of Halifax Friday evening.

Halifax Regional Police say they responded to a weapons call at an address in the 2000 block of Clifton Street around 8:40 PM.

One man was found dead at the scene and another was injured.

The victim was rushed to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

CTV News has confirmed the emergency department at the Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences Centre hospital went into lockdown-mode around 9:30 PM.

Officials would only say it was to protect the safety of the staff and patients.

The Medical Examiner has not yet confirmed the cause of death, but police say they're treating the incident as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
