HALIFAX -- The first case of COVID-19 in Prince Edward Island has been confirmed.

On Saturday, P.E.I.’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Heather Morrison held a press conference to update the region on its status in the wake of COVID-19 sweeping the nation.

Morrison said the case involves a P.E.I. woman in her 50s who returned from a cruise on March 7. While the woman’s identity can’t be released to the public, Morrison did say the woman is from Queens County

The woman has mild symptoms and is self-isolating at home.

Meanwhile, health officials are working to locate those who came in contact with the woman from March 7-10 when she began showing symptoms.

The woman is self-isolating and is recovering at home with mild symptoms.
