HALIFAX -- Police say a Houston-bound private jet was diverted to Halifax early Tuesday morning after the death of an ill passenger.

Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Scott MacRae says the passenger was an unidentified 64-year-old man from the United Arab Emirates.

MacRae says the man was on his way to Houston to receive medical treatment, but he could not disclose the nature of that treatment.

However, MacRae confirms the man had a medical team with him when the jet landed at Halifax Stanfield International Airport just after midnight Monday night.

MacRae says the man died of an apparent heart attack.

A medical examiner has determined there was no foul play involved.
