A man wanted in connection with an assault in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia has been arrested.

Police say 30-year-old Andrew "Andy" Stephen Robinson of Indian Brook was arrested around 10 p.m. Wednesday night after members of the Bible Hill RCMP followed up on tips from the public.

Robinson was arrested without incident.

He is facing charges of attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault in connection with an assault that occurred on Saturday.

Police responded to Main Street in Stewiacke around 8 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 32-year-old Shubenacadie man who was unconscious and suffering from serious head injuries.

He was first transported to Colchester Hospital for treatment and was then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax where he underwent emergency surgery.

A warrant was issued for Robinson's arrest on Monday.

Police say they are still investigating the incident, and a court date has not yet been set.
