Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a stabbing incident that sent a man to hospital.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at Blowers and Argyle streets around 4 a.m. Sunday. Police say two men who are known to each other got into an altercation.

The officers broke up the fight and separated the men. That’s when they realized one of the men was injured.

The 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Police say the 20-year-old suspect got into a physical confrontation with the officers, who arrested the man and took him into custody.

Tony Deangelo Beals faces one count each of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, causing a disturbance and resisting police.

Police say there were a number of bystanders in the area at the time of the incident. They are asking anyone who witnessed it, or anyone who may have information, to contact them.
