HALIFAX - Police are investigating a shooting on a Halifax street that has seen a series of violent incidents over the past two years.

Cpl. Scott MacRae, a spokesman for the RCMP, said shots were fired on Thursday at a residence at 23 Cain Street with two people inside.

He said nobody was injured at the residence in the North Preston neighbourhood.

Two bullet holes marked a basement window at the front of the white-sided house late Thursday morning.

MacRae did not know the ages of the people inside at the time of the shooting, but he said he believed they were adults.

Cain Street was the scene of another shooting on Dec. 9, when Rakiem Smith was shot repeatedly as he walked along the road.

The 19-year-old was injured but survived.

Nathan Cross, 22, was gunned down in the Cain Street area in April while wearing body armour. He died on the way to hospital.

There were three shootings on Cain Street in 2009 and police investigated four more on the same street in 2010, including one that left a seven-year-old boy traumatized after bullets from a moving car hit the one he was riding in.
