Investigators are still on the scene at a home in Dartmouth after a man's body was found there early this morning.

The call came in around 2:30 a.m. Friday and police say the man's death is suspicious.

Investigators spent hours scouring backyards and a nearby pathway on Havenbrook Hill in the Portland Estates neighbourhood, then worked their way into the home.

Police say they have also seized several vehicles as part of their investigation.

"They're processing scenes both inside and outside the house and we also have ground search and rescue on scene they're helping to search for evidence in relation to this incident," confirmed Halifax Regional Police spokeswoman Theresa Rath.

Paperwork indicates the home is owned by a Mr. Mohammad Rashidi.

"Across the street? Yeah I know the gentleman who owns the property," said neighbour Greg Murphy. "Quiet man…son lives with him."

A family friend, who asked not to be identified, said Rashidi is in the Middle East right now and his son Davood and another young man live in the home with him.

The woman also said Rashidi updated his status on his cell phone just before 11 p.m. Thursday – it read "studying."

She said he is a student at Saint Mary's University and that Davood is one of the two people who have been questioned by police.

She doesn't believe Davood is involved and no charges have been laid, but police did confirm Friday morning that two people had been brought in for questioning.

"We won't disclose any details about the two individuals just because we only release information about them if they've been charged with a criminal offense and they've not been," said Rath.

Police also haven't said much about the man who died.

"We've confirmed that it is an adult male victim," said Rath.

A friend of the Rashidis says it is believed the man may be the family's accountant.

Police say the community has been co-operating in the case and they are encouraging anyone else with information to come forward.
