Toronto police have released an image of a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in a west-end park earlier this month.

Darnell St. Clair Wright, also known as Darnell Grant, is wanted on the charge of first-degree murder in the death of Jefflin Beals.

Beals, a 25-year-old from Dartmouth, N.S., was shot and killed in Toronto's Trinity Bellwoods Park in October 2.

Police found an empty black vehicle ridded with bullets near the park at about 3 a.m., and later found Beals nearby suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Beals was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Wright is wanted on one count of first-degree murder and is believed to have left the city and headed east toward the Halifax area.

Police are no longer searching for a 2012 Hyundai Sonata believed to have been driven by the suspect. The vehicle is a rental that has since been returned to the agency, police said on Thursday.

Wright is described as brown, 5-foot 10 and 180 lbs. with black hair. He may have facial hair and also has a number of tattoos on his body and neck.

Police believe the suspect is armed and dangerous and ask anyone who may see him to contact 9-1-1.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
