ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- A fourth suspect in an abduction and murder that horrified Newfoundland was thought to be in Nova Scotia Monday, police said.

Chesley John Lucas, 23, of Paradise, N.L., left for Nova Scotia on a weekend ferry, just as police turned up grounds for his arrest in the Steven Miller murder, Const. Geoffrey Higdon of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said Monday.

Lucas was believed to be travelling with Brady Myler, 21, who was himself wanted in relation to weapons offences unrelated to the Miller homicide.

But Myler turned himself into police in Halifax on Monday afternoon, said Higdon, and will be returned to St. John's.

Higdon said police believe, "based on intelligence," that Lucas is still in the region.

"At this point we think he is still in Atlantic Canada, just because of the timeline. We had information he was still (in Nova Scotia) today," said Higdon.

Anyone who might have spoken to the men on the ferry ride Saturday night to Sunday morning between Argentia, N.L., and North Sydney, N.S., are asked to call the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

Three other men have been charged in the murder of Miller, whose body was discovered in a driveway in Conception Bay South on July 30.

Police say hours earlier, the 25-year-old man had been abducted from his home by armed and masked intruders just a few kilometres from where his body was found.

Thirty-five-year-old Paul Connolly, 25-year-old Calvin Kenny and 19-year-old Kyle Morgan have already been charged with first-degree murder, forcible confinement, robbery and arson in connection with the death.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for Lucas on charges of first-degree murder, forcible confinement, robbery and arson. Police say Lucas, who also goes by CJ or Chesley Clarke, is considered armed and dangerous and is described as five foot seven inches tall with brown hair and hazel eyes.

"I can't comment on how long he's been a person of interest," said Higdon. "More evidence had presented itself that led investigators to this gentleman."
