RCMP in New Brunswick are searching for three suspects after a weekend stabbing incident in Moncton.
Police responded to an altercation between seven people on Lutz Street, near the intersection of St.-George Street, shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday.
They say one man sustained serious injuries after being stabbed in the chest. He remains in hospital in stable condition.
Another man was also injured in the scuffle. He was treated in hospital and released.
Lucille LeBlanc says she was in bed when she noticed the flashing lights of emergency vehicles shining through her window.
“I didn’t know what was going on but it was some stir,” says LeBlanc. “I saw quite a few police cars. There were at least six police cars, two ambulances and a fire truck, and they had the police dog also.”
Amanda Hachey lives close to where the stabbing occurred. She says her neighbourhood is usually safe and that such incidents can happen anywhere.
“Just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, I think is a bit of a worry,” says Hachey. “I would like to think it’s not here, but I’m being reminded of a few things. I guess it is present in my neighbourhood.”
“It’s quiet surrounding here, but I guess something is going on,” says LeBlanc.
Police are looking for three white males in the late teens or early 20s. They say one man was wearing a black ball cap with a flat peak.
