SAINT JOHN, N.B. -- Police in New Brunswick are warning people about the release of a convicted, violent sex offender.

In a statement today, Saint John police say 62-year-old Roger Ernest Joseph Roberge was recently released from the Atlantic Institute in Renous.

He served 12 years for forcible confinement and sexual assault in 2001.

Police say they consider Roberge to be a high risk to reoffend against women and other vulnerable people.

Roberge will be living in the Saint John area and monitored by the police.
