HALIFAX -- A 37-year-old P.E.I. man is facing impaired driving charges after being pulled over on Saturday.

P.E.I. RCMP say they received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Lennox Island on Nov. 21.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man, showed "signs of gross intoxication."

The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and transported to the East Prince RCMP Detachment where he provided samples of his breath. Police say the driver's readings were almost three times over the legal limit.

The driver spent the night in provincial jail, was issued a 90-day driving prohibition, and his vehicle was impounded at his expense for 30 days.

He was released from custody on Sunday and is scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court later this year.
