The New Brunswick RCMP are asking for the public’s help as its members investigate the murder of a Quebec City man.
Mario Bergeron, a full-patch member of the notorious Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, disappeared from the Quebec City area in April 2008. He was 43 at the time.
Police say their investigation has led them to believe that Bergeron was murdered and his remains were buried in the Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska area.
“There have been some new developments that have brought us to a point where we believe the public may be able to assist in narrowing down the search for Bergeron’s remains,” RCMP Supt. Daniel Nowlan said at a press conference Friday.
Police say heavy equipment may have been used in the disposal of Bergeron’s body.
“We are looking for a small, kind of Bobcat tractor,” Nowlan said.
Police are asking residents to think back to 2008 for recollections like a tractor digging in the area, especially if the digging occurred where no construction was taking place.
‘They may have seen something like, let’s say a light in a field or beside wooded area, and at the time it may not have rung a bell for anybody,” Nowlan said.
Municipal police forces in Edmunston and Grand Falls have assisted RCMP in their investigation.
“We firmly believe Bergeron’s murder was related to organized crime and there is no threat to the general public. While we do have suspects who are involved in organized crime, at this point no charges have been laid,” Nowlan said.
Anyone with information about the case or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska area in April 2008 is asked to contact police.
