RCMP have confirmed the identity of the latest murder victim in the Halifax area.

Stacey Jordan Adams, 20, of Dartmouth was shot and killed in Lake Echo on Sunday.

Police were called to a home on Shadewell Lane, just off of the Mineville Road, where they found Adams' body inside a parked car.

Investigators have been searching the area and gathering evidence since Sunday. They are treating it as a homicide.

Shandra Vanlier lives in one of the five houses on Shadewell Lane and was shocked to learn of the shooting.

"I never saw anything, I never heard anything," she told CTV reporter, Kelland Sundahl.

"We went to church and we came back and we left," she said. "There was nothing, no cars, nothing. It was just silence everywhere, you know? So something happened between 3:30 and 4:30."

Police are still trying to find out exactly what happened there on Sunday. They believe this wasn't a random act and they're investigating whether the shooting might be drug-related. They have yet to make any arrests in the case and are waiting for autopsy results.

"It's still pretty early on in the investigation and we are continuing with all the avenues to try to find out what actually happened here yesterday and hopefully put the pieces of the puzzle together," Cpl. Scott MacRae told CTV.

CTV has learned the home Adams was found outside of was being rented out. It has been for sale since last fall and the real estate agent says a viewing had been scheduled for Sunday, but the homeowner cancelled at the last minute. The homeowner is listed as a Ryan Belanger.

Friends of Stacey Adams have created a Facebook site in his memory, and his personal profile indicates he graduated from Dartmouth High in 2009.
