The RCMP have identified a man killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 in Salmon River, N.S.

Police and emergency crews responded to the crash before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say a pickup truck carrying a 50-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy, both from Lower Saulnierville, collided head-on with a westbound car.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 52-year-old Gordon James Best of Rossway, Digby County.

The woman was airlifted to hospital in Halifax with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The boy wasn’t injured, but was sent to hospital for assessment.
