RCMP have released the name of a man killed in a two-vehicle collision on Nova Scotia’s Highway 103.

The victim has been identified as 73-year-old George Warner Smith of Mill Village, Queens County.

RCMP and emergency crews responded to the crash between exits 14 and 15 in Hebbs Cross just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

They say a westbound SUV collided head-on with an eastbound minivan.

The lone male occupant of the SUV and a female passenger in the minivan were taken to the South Shore Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Warner, who had been driving the minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 103 was closed in both directions for approximately two hours while police investigated the scene. It has since reopened to traffic.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
