RCMP have identified a man who died after his car collided with a dump truck in Sydney River, N.S. Thursday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the collision at Exit 6 on Highway 125 before 8:30 a.m.
Police say it appears an eastbound car collided head-on with a westbound dump truck. The impact of the crash forced the truck to land on its side.
Both drivers were taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, 23-year-old Christopher Anthony Rudnicki of Sydney Mines, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
A section of the highway was shut down for several hours Thursday after police investigated the scene. It has since reopened to traffic.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
