The RCMP are asking for the public's help in cracking a 25-year-old murder case in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley.

The body of David Andrew Keddy was found floating on a wooden raft in an isolated area of the Annapolis River, downstream from Nictaux, on June 5, 1987.

Police say the 31-year-old Nictaux resident was last seen alive the morning of June 3, 1987 when he left his girlfriend's home in the town. Investigators believe he then walked along an abandoned train bed which led to a bridge.

Investigators say local youth were known to have tied a wooden raft to the bridge and it was on this raft that Keddy's body was found two days later.

Police say an autopsy showed that Keddy died as a result of foul play, and while police conducted a number of polygraph tests and interviews, no charges have ever been laid in the case.

They are urging anyone with information to come forward.

"Regardless of how insignificant you may feel your information is, please let police make that determination," says media relations officer Sgt. Brigdit Leger in a press release. "It is never too late to come forward and help provide closure to a grieving family."

The case was added to the Nova Scotia Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program in 2007.
