RCMP: Two more arrests made in alleged P.E.I. racial assault, charges expected

CHARLOTTETOWN -
Two more people have been arrested in connection with an alleged assault in western Prince Edward Island last weekend that the premier has condemned as being racially motivated.
Police have said an employee and a client of a group that helps French-speaking newcomers settle in the province were physically and verbally attacked at an Acadian festival in Abrams Village in the early morning hours last Saturday.
RCMP Cpl. Nick Doyle says a total of four people have now been arrested and released in connection with the attack.
The spokesman says assault and mischief charges are expected this week.
P.E.I. Premier Dennis King has condemned the incident in the village west of Summerside as being an act of "racism and hate."
Summerside RCMP say when they were called to the Evangeline Recreation Centre last week, they found five men involved in an altercation in a parking lot, two of whom were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
