A retired Halifax Regional Police officer is accused of assaulting his wife and stepdaughter.
Halifax Regional Police contacted Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team on Oct. 6 to pass along information they had received about the former officer.
Stewart Travis retired on Sept. 1, but both incidents are alleged to have occurred while he was still a member of the Halifax Regional Police.
SIRT launched an investigation and interviewed Travis’ wife, who is now separated from him, and his stepdaughter.
SIRT alleges 52-year-old Travis assaulted his stepdaughter on April 22 and his wife on May 26. Both incidents are alleged to have taken place in Bridgetown, N.S.
He is facing two counts of assault in connection with the investigation.
Travis has been released on conditions and is due in court on Nov. 24.
