A New Brunswick man who pleaded guilty to killing his newborn son has lost an attempt to win a new trial.

Rodney Miller of Moores Mills was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years in connection with the baby's death in January 2009.

The 29-year old pleaded guilty to first degree murder, but earlier this year, he appeared before the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, asking the court to overturn his guilty plea. The court issued a ruling Friday, saying there was no evidence that Miller's guilty plea was invalid.
